Correct Placeing

The extraction point should always be sited to capture steam and other odors at the source.It should be located as high as possible and provide a flow across the room with air replacement usually coming from the doorway. If there is a negligible gap beneath the door when closed, fit a slimline door grille at low level for air replacement and effective extractor fan operation.If there is a fuel burning appliance in the room, ensure that there is adequate air replacement for both the fuel burning appliance and the extraction fan. In an upstairs bathroom, options include a ceiling mounted extractor fan with ducting running to a grille or fan.

Centrifugal or Axial?

We know the volume of air to be extracted per hour and if it is wall, window or ceiling fitting. Axial fans are most appropriate for  extracting directly to the outside through a wall or window. However, if the window or wall faces a prevailing wind such as in coastal areas or high rise applications, a centrifugal fan which has a higher pressure performance is more suited to overcome these conditions.

Installation in single and sealed double glazed windows (up to 25mm) is rapid using Xpelair’s unique metal ladder strip / screw system, ensuring a secure and watertight seal against the glass. Both the GX9 & GX12 ranges are reversible and now feature totally enclosed external rotor motors providing constant volume outputs, even in gusty external conditions. Pre-balanced sickle bladed impellers eliminate ‘fan wobling’ and ensure quiet trouble free operation. Sealed for life maintenance free bearings ensure suitability for running at any angle. Running costs are impressively low, and when not in use the silent electro-thermal shutter cassette closes silently against back draughts. And cleaning has never been easier. The housing, shutter cassette and impeller are all removed in seconds!
