A halogen flood light can be less maintenance than more traditional flood lights as well. The tungsten filament that comes with the halogen flood light can lasts significantly longer than filaments found in incandescent light bulbs. There is not as frequent of a need to go up and replace the bulbs. This can help cut down on the costs of bulbs, but also on the costs of hiring someone to replace them. Usually, if a bulb goes out, it is to the company's advantage to replace them all, if they all receive similar use.
The most common type of floodlight is the Metal Halide which emits a bright white light, however most commonly used for sporting events are high pressure Sodium floodlights which emit a soft orange light, similar to that of street lights; SONE lamps have a very high lumens-to-watt ratio making them a cost effective choice where certain lux levels have to be met.
